What a Wild Ride!

Hello! We hope you are safe and well. Like most everyone else on the planet, the COVID19 pandemic has proven to be a sad and worrisome time for us. It has also turned out to be productive, enlightening, and hopeful. We’ve moved some education and support online which has been well received. We’ve also met some amazing individuals who are helping to steer our virtual efforts. Some great new collaborative alliances with local, state, and national agencies have formed around our policy priorities. And our graphic design volunteer had the time to organize our gorgeous new infographics from our first three collaborative efforts which you can see here.

Darrell & Jeff were encouraged by the turnout at the Men’s Resiliency Skills workshop, and we were all surprised by how many of the participants had been affected by suicide yet had so few other indicators of need. We all agree that it will be enlightening to learn how many other men in our little valley have been affected by suicide as we are able to work with different groups. It was a good day.

Along with many others, We moved our meetings and collaborations to the virtual space.

Watch Rocky Mountain MIRECC and Western Colorado Writer’s Forum for new postvention offerings and opportunities.

We’ve rescheduled our Healing with Art, Writing, and Movement Workshop for Youth for September 12th. The end of May seemed too soon even in a county that’s opened more quickly than other communities around the state. We are organized, the volunteers and artists are ready to go, and we have our materials shopping list queued for the payment click.

Advocating for postvention

To advance the cause of postvention research, funding, education, and services, we are always looking for ways to collaborate with change makers.

We are in collaboration with Mesa County and Western Slope political groups in a non-partisan effort to steer tax dollars to focused postvention research, education, and support.

Also, we’ve been invited to collaborate with Rocky Mountain MIRECC Postvention division and CU Anschutz researchers on survivor-driven, survivor-input outreach and projects.

Fingers crossed that we can convince some leading critical suicidologists and postvention researchers to help us define our “asks” for policy and research going forward. (If you’re reading this and you are a critical suicidology or postvention researcher, please contact us if you have ideas!)
