Youth Vision +

Our alliance is off to a fast start this year! On January 9th we elected two new board members, rearranged our board positions, and hired an organizing & advocacy company. Then we began to plan our 2021 activities in earnest. With the help of generous funding from the Western Colorado Community Foundation and the Grand Junction Arts Commission, the Youth Vision film PSA project in collaboration with CyberStrong Mesa County is well underway.

Our collaboration with CyberStrong Mesa County and the Grand Junction Arts Commission is a youth led project. During the next 3 months we will support local youth as they envision and create a wellbeing PSA project - in their own words, using their unique artistic and recreational interests as the focal point of their advocacy message. Again, we get to say #LetYouthLead!

Under the advice of area youth, and through a generous grant from Arts in Society, we have continued to partner with the Western Colorado Writers’ Forum on projects which increase the wellbeing of our community. From Teen Zine to Poetry SLAMs to Resilient Kids projects, we’ve been learning how the process of writing & speaking can lead to better health. Click on each photo below to learn more!

Throughout the next year, under an Anschutz Medical research project, our alliance will work in partnership with multiple regional organization. Our portion of the project focuses solely on postvention work as described in the research intro video below.

Coming this summer, via a grant from the Colorado National Collaborative and the Western Colorado Community Foundation, we will present the 2021 Mesa County Postvention Training Program. This program offers the first comprehensive postvention program in Colorado’s history.
